Our Story

Drawing inspiration from our extensive travels and deep-rooted passion for sustainability and nature, we've brought our vision to life with Samana Ecolodge – our cherished sanctuary. It brings us immense joy to open its doors and invite you to experience the realization of our dream alongside us!

Fuelled by the dream of embracing a natural lifestyle amidst the breathtaking Caribbean landscape, we conceived this haven with boundless love and the aspiration to ignite inspiration in all who grace our doorstep. Our commitment to sustainability resonates in every corner of Samana Ecolodge, where independence thrives through solar panels, water wells, and the purest spring streams weaving through our land.

Nestled within our grounds lies a flourishing farm, yielding a bounty of fruits, vegetables, and aromatic spices. From farm to table, our kitchen boasts a daily harvest, delivering unparalleled freshness straight to your plate. Here, organic isn't just a label – it's a way of life.

In 2016, Ben and Xiomara embarked on a journey to manifest their vision of an off-grid, sustainable eco-lodge. Guided by wanderlust, they discovered El Limon, a gem nestled in the Dominican Republic, bewitched by its landscapes, cascading waterfalls, and the authentic charm of the local village. With unwavering determination, they unearthed the perfect parcel of land and commenced construction. Every stone, every crop, every bloom, meticulously placed by their hands and the eager help of volunteers.

Every piece of timber, every palm frond sourced locally, nurtured the community, fostering growth and prosperity in El Limón. After two years of steadfast dedication, a tranquil oasis emerged – a sanctuary where guests can disconnect and reconnect with nature in its purest form.

What to Expect?

For the nature lovers, the animals we are likely to see daily are; hummingbirds flying around in the mornings, the birds of pray flying over the lodge including eagles, some vultures and owls at night, horses living on the field, cows and pigs, frogs and geckos and much more. Living in direct contact with nature means we also have to expect small critters, some bats, bugs or even small spiders… but it’s important to know there nothing here that can hurt you or any poisonous plants, bugs or animals (one of the reasons we picked the country!)

So please be confident in knowing nothing in this lodge can or will harm you, apart from too many cocktails in the bar from the night before! Also, expect to see beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and spend your nights stargazing in one of our rock pools.
